There’s no denying it: there are plenty of places in Arkansas that are downright beautiful and full of excitement.
Unfortunately, not all towns and cities in Natural State are so lucky.
Just like in all U.S. States, there are definitely some boring places within Arkansas’s’ borders. You know the places where everyone has an AARP card and the most exciting thing they do all day is post a picture of their grandchild on Facebook.
Like Tontitown, for instance. In our latest analysis, we found that this city was the most boring city in all of Oklahoma according to Saturday Night Science. But don’t feel bad if you’re a resident of Tontitown. There are plenty of other boring, lackluster places in Arkansas as well.
Here they are. Try not to jump out of your seat with excitement.
The 10 Most Boring Places In Arkansas

Methodology: How we determined the boring cities in the Natural State
You would present the following case to your friends if you were argueing with them at a bar about the most boring place to live in Arkansas. And that’s why we call it Saturday Night Science.
Because our data speaks more truth than feelings.
To figure out how boring a place is, we factored in things we generally think make people exciting, and then we figure out which cities have the least number of those exciting people.
We used the U.S. American Community Census data to gather the information presented here. HSome of the things people tend to think of as making a city’s population boring include:
- % of Population Over 25 (higher is more boring)
- % of Married Household (higher is more boring)
- Average Age (higher is more boring)
- % of Households With Kids (higher is more boring)
- Population density (lower is more boring)
Then, our algorithm generates a ranking for each place in these categories. After crunching the numbers, all of the cities ranked from most boring to most exciting.
For this ranking, we used every Arkansas city with at least 5,000 residents. This keeps us from prejudicing our rankings by including very small pockets of retired people.
Grab your rocker and hold on.
We updated this article for 2023, and it’s our tenth time ranking the most boring cities in Arkansas.
There You Have It – Now That You’re Asleep
On a ranking like this, there are usually no winners, but since Arkansas isn’t necessarily the most boring state in the United States, the cities on this ranking can at least take solace that there are, in fact, more boring cities in the country.
If you’re also curious enough, here are the most exciting places in Arkansas, according to science:
- Arkadelphia
- Fayetteville
- Searcy

Your algorithm and criteria suck. You choose to ignore other extreemly important factors like amenities, income levels, and proximity.
I award you zero points and may God have mercy on your soul.
Where’s Rison
This guy is just stupid. He lives with his mom and can not get a real job so he writes a blog lol.
I have been and lived in or near a lot of these cities and or towns, and I don’t find them boring at all. Most have a lot of History connected to them, so your info is off to a bad start.
The title of this story should have read “The most boring story in media today”.
Whoever wrote this knows nothing about arkansas. I don’t see Banks, Jersey, or Hermitage on here. The cities they named actually have things you can do there.
Dumbest thing ever….sit on Thunderbird Lake and listen to all the boats and kids screaming and laughing. Your stats are because of # of elderly and or married. Wow. So dumb!
It’s called freedom of speech everyone is entitled to their own opinion just because you don’t agree doesn’t mean he’s wrong it’s not for yall to judge . Get a life people
Judge? That is such an overused cop out word. . We make judgments every day . ..if we didn’t, we’d probably be idiots
Cherokee Village is a beautiful area surrounded by trees, lakes, creeks, nature of all kinds, fishing, rivers, antiques, trails for walking and riding bikes, much history, right near Spring River for rafting, canoeing, swimming, fishing, picnics, camping areas, near Mammoth Springs with nice parks near a beautiful fish aquarium area to visit with big areas to play. Many good restaurants are available throughout the Cherokee Village areas. Cabins are are for rent on the lakes and rivers. This is not boring !! It’s relaxing beautiful life for all. Also, if you don’t own a canoe or raft, many places are near to rent. They take you and pick you up on your favorite area. There are horseback riding places in Cherokee Village the family can enjoy and a petting animal farm in the area. Music downtown Hardy outside and local restaurant music.
The pictures posted for Horseshoe Bend and Fairfield Bay aren’t even in those towns. Freedom of speech is fine….inaccurate information is not.
Go a bit south of Cherokee Village and on down to Evening Shade. Other than Burt Reyonld’s TV show, there’s even less there than there is in the village.
